RPS Opens Two New Yorkshire Sites
- Specialist heating contractor steps up growth across Yorkshire with two new offices

Domestic heating and renewable energy contractor, RPS Group, is ramping up its Yorkshire expansion with the launch of two new offices in North and West Yorkshire, marking a major step in its strategy to drive sustained growth across the county.
The expansion includes new offices in Northallerton and Pontefract, strengthening RPS Group’s regional footprint and its position as the North’s leading specialist contractor.
The move is in response to increasing demand for home upgrades across Yorkshire and the Humber. Around 500,000 homes in the region are expected to need heating and energy efficiency upgrades under the UK Government’s Warm Homes Plan to retrofit five million properties nationwide.
Founded in Wigan, Greater Manchester, by owner Graham Rothwell in 1991, the company has grown considerably in recent years through its specialist retrofit work in social and affordable housing.
RPS Group has improved thousands of homes for housing associations and local authorities by making them more energy-efficient, reducing bills for often low-income, fuel-poor households and cutting carbon emissions.
The contractor’s landmark retrofit programme with Together Housing, now in its fourth and final year, has delivered air-source heat pump upgrades to more than 1,200 homes across Yorkshire.
As part of wider works including ground-source heat pumps and solar PV installations, over 1,400 homes have been improved, making it one of the UK’s largest low-carbon domestic retrofit programmes.
The company has also landed heat and energy retrofit projects with York City Council, Broadacres Housing Association and Vico Homes.
“Across Yorkshire and the Humber, there’s around half a million homes expected to require retrofitting, with a significant proportion being local authority and housing association properties” said Graham Rothwell, the founder and owner of RPS Group.
“Many will need new heating systems and renewable energy solutions over the coming decade, so it makes sense for RPS Group to establish a dedicated, permanent presence to support local delivery, drive growth, and manage complex logistics.”
“We chose Northallerton and Pontefract because they are strategically located to service projects both in Yorkshire and North East of England, where we currently have other contracts in place.”
As part of its expansion, RPS Group is also set to grow its local workforce, recruiting site and project managers alongside heating and renewable energy engineers.
In line with its social value commitments, the company will also create apprenticeship opportunities, helping to develop the next generation of skilled workers in the heating and renewable energy sector.
